16.11.2017

This morning, the Municipal Hall of Corçà hosted the presentation of the first joint catalog of craft companies in five municipalities of Empordanet - La Bisbal d'Empordà, Forallac, Cruilles, Corçà and Ullastret - aimed at a professional audience from different sectors ( hospitality, decoration, distributors ...) with the aim of contributing to generate business and value crafts as an element of attraction and differentiating the territory. The councilor for Economic Promotion, Santi Muní, attended the event on behalf of the City Council of Forallac. The mayor of Corçà, Carmen Güell, welcomed the attendees on behalf of the five municipalities that are part of the strategic plan for local economic development. Precisely, it is from this plan that the initiative arises to make visible the artisanal companies of these towns to multiply the opportunities of sale opening up to new publics and to consolidate the sector of the crafts, with the ceramics like central axis, as a factor that singularizes the territory. This catalog is the result of a previous work of identification and cohesion of the sector, encouraging networking. There is a clear commitment on the part of the city councils, which are carrying out municipal policies, in order to encourage and promote the craftsmanship of the territory in all its aspects.

The catalog includes a directory of 32 artisan companies, which includes 45 artisan craftsmen accredited from the five municipalities, classified according to the repertoire of families of artisan crafts from the Consortium of Crafts, Trade and Fashion of the Generalitat of Catalonia. The catalog is available in four languages ??- Catalan, Spanish, English and French, in digital format and also printed to be distributed in those actions directed to professional public organized and / or where the five municipalities participate. This edition has had the support of the Diputació de Girona and the Consorcio de Comerç, Artesania i Moda de Catalunya.

The Head of the Department of Crafts of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Xavier Villas, has been in charge of closing the event. Xavier Villas explained that the catalog is a tool to consolidate, in different areas, the craft sector by improving its competitiveness and valuing the artisanal and traditional culture of the territory, understood as an economic activity. He concluded that this initiative is a qualitative leap in the artisan sector of the area because it shows that collaborating jointly with artisans, five municipalities and various administrations can get to know the crafts in the world.

The event was attended by about fifty people and ended with a professional meeting between craft companies present in the catalog and professionals of decoration, hospitality and tourism.
